Early Years Foundation Stage Leader - Mrs Hewison

Our Early Years Foundation Stage are also known as our Tiny Explorers.

Reception

We have two Reception classes at Morpeth Road Primary. We call them 'England' and Scotland'. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum which is extemely practical and each learning experience is individual to every child in our unit.

"Children are born ready, able and eager to learn. They reach out to interact with other people, and in the world around them. Development is not an automatic process, however. It depends on each unique child having opportunities to interact in positive relationships and enabling environments."

This is a quote from the curriculum guidance called 'Development Matters' that help us deleiver the most appropriate activities for the children to learn.

We currently have two Reception teachers. England has Mrs Hewison and Scotland has Mrs Mackay. All staff in the unit contribute to every child's education.

Nursery

We have two Nursery sessions at Morpeth Road Primary. They are morning session - 8.45am - 11.45am and afternoon session which is 12noon - 3.00pm. We call them both 'Wales'. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum which is extemely practical and each learning experience is individual to every child in our unit.

We have Mrs Blanks who is our Nursery teacher. All staff in the unit contribute to every child's education.

Toddlers

We have Mrs Chalmers and Miss Walton who plan, observe, assess and deliver sessions with parents of our Toddler group. They work extremely closely with Mrs Hewison in the Early Years Unit and plan together on a regular basis.
